Mindfulness

We are Human Beings not Human Doings. We waste so much time worrying about what we’ve done or what we are going to do that we never stop to just be, here and now. After all the only moment that actually exists is this moment right now. The past has gone and the future hasn’t happened. So much stress is caused by worrying about things we can’t change or stuff that hasn’t happened yet (and probably never will). How many times have you rehearsed a conversation in your head only for the conversation to never happen.

Mindfulness is the art of paying attention to the present moment. A method for bringing awareness of the senses and a focus on breathing. It helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we’re better able to manage them.

Practising mindfulness can give people more insight into their emotions, boost their attention and concentration and improve relationships. It’s proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, and can even have a positive effect on physical problems like hypertension, heart disease and chronic pain.

Anyone can learn mindfulness. You can practise it anywhere, it’s simple and the results can be life-changing.
